By using the website you accept them. They do not change the terms of any policy, mortgage or other contract you hold with us.
What the information is for
The website describes our plans, offices, forms and claims process in general terms so you can decide what to ask us about. It is not financial, legal or tax advice, and it is not an offer of insurance or of a loan. Cover starts only when we have accepted an application and issued a policy, and the policy document sets out what is covered.
Plans, premiums, currencies and eligibility differ between Guyana, Grenada, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The website shows the plans for the territory you choose. A plan shown for one territory may not be available in another.
We keep the content accurate and correct errors when we find them. If the website and your policy document differ, the policy document applies.
Quotes and figures
Premiums, benefits and examples on the website are illustrations. A quote from an agent or office is based on the details you give, and the premium is confirmed only after underwriting.
Forms you send through the website
A form sent through the Contact page is a request for us to get in touch. It gives you a reference number and goes to the office that handles that kind of request. Sending a form does not start or change cover, make a premium payment, or lodge a claim. Claims are made with the claim form and documents listed on the Claims pages.
Give accurate details and send only information about yourself, or about someone who has agreed to it. Do not send card numbers, passwords or medical records through the contact forms.
Payments and customer portals
This website does not take payments. The Pay page lists the ways to pay a premium in each territory. We never ask for card details by email or WhatsApp. A website that asks for your card number to pay a Demerara Mutual premium is not ours; if you receive such a request, do not act on it and tell your office.
The customer portals linked from the Log in page are separate systems with their own terms and login details.
Acceptable use
Do not try to gain access to parts of the website that are not public, interfere with how it runs, send automated or bulk form submissions, or use it to send anything unlawful or harmful. We may block access that puts the website or its users at risk.
Ownership of content
The text, design, photographs, logos and the names Demerara Mutual and Demerara Fire & General belong to us or are used with permission. You may view, download and print pages and forms for your own dealings with us. Any other use needs our written permission.
Links to other websites
We link to regulators, payment providers and map services for your convenience. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content or how they handle your data.
