A mutual with offices in four countries
Demerara Mutual is owned by its policyholders, not shareholders, and has written life assurance since 1891. The Group employed an average of 122 people in 2025 across its head office in Georgetown, the branches in Guyana, Grenada, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and at Demerara Fire & General. Field staff sell and service policies from every office.
Training from the first week
New staff are trained and mentored in their department, and cross-trained so offices keep running when someone is away.
